Programming instructions and codes for Jumbo Remote Controls
Most Jumbo remotes such as the Innovage, iWave, Emerson, Sentry RMC10 & RMC20, Harbor Freight 66687 and other generic 'JUMBO' universal remote controls use the same codes as the older RCA remotes with 3-digit codes.
There are some exceptions though, such as the Harbor Freight Tools Item 61959 and the QFX REM-115 for example, that come pre-programmed with the newer Philips 4-digit codes.
The set-up procedures for most older Jumbos are the same as RCA's, so only the basic 'Direct Code Entry' and 'Code Search' instructions are presented here. For the rest, see this page.
Direct code entry for Jumbo remotes
First, turn on your TV or other device. Refer to the code lists and note the first code listed for your brand.
Step 1: Press the 'CODE SEARCH' button until the LED turns on and stays solid red. Release the button.
Step 2: Press and release the Device Select Control button for the device that you are programming ('CABLE', 'TV', 'VCR', 'DVD' or 'SAT'). The LED will blink once, then remain solid.
Step 3: Enter the corresponding 3-digit code using the number keys. The LED will blink as each number is pushed, then remain solid. You must enter the code within 30 seconds. If, after entering the code, the LED turns off, then the remote has recognized the code. If the LED flashes, the code is not recognized and you will need to repeat this procedure using a different code. Note: The remote may recognize the code but the device may not. You may need to try more than one code to get the device to function.
Step 4: Press the 'ON/OFF' button. If the device turns off, you may have found the correct code. Press the 'ON/OFF' button again. If the device does not turn back on, this is not the correct code and you will need to try again with a different code from the list or use 'Code search'. If the device turns on, and other common functions work as they should, you have found the correct code.
Note:
- To program the newer 'Harbor Freight Tools' Item 61959 or any other Jumbo remote that has a 'Mute' button instead of 'Code Search', press and hold the desired Device Select Control button until the LED turns on and stays solid red, then enter the 4-digit code.
Code search for Jumbo remotes
First, turn on your TV or other device.
Step 3: Point the Remote at your device and press and release the 'ON/OFF' Button. The LED will flash once each time you press the 'ON/OFF' Button. Keep doing this slowly until the device turns off. It may take up to a few hundred times to reach the correct code. When the device turns off, immediately press and release the 'ENTER' button to store the code.
Step 4: Press the 'ON/OFF' button and the device should turn on. This ensures that the code was properly stored in the remote for that device. Test all other buttons on the remote to verify that they work properly.
Notes:
- If no keys have been pressed for 15 seconds, the Code Search feature will automatically turn off.
- For the rest of procedures, (e.g., 'Code Retrieval') see the our RCA howto page, as they are basically the same for almost all older Jumbo remote variants.
- To search for a working code for the newer Harbor Freight Tools Item 61959, the QFX REM-115 or any other Jumbo remote that has a 'Mute' button instead of 'Code Search', press and hold the desired Device Select Control button until the LED turns on and stays solid red, then press and release the 'CH+' repeatedly until the device turns off, then press 'ENTER' to store the code.
Code lists for Jumbo remote controls
Most 'Jumbo' remote controls use similar codes as old RCA remotes, so we'll list only a few common brands of TVs on this page.
See the full TV codelist for iWave, Innovage, 'Can you imagine', 'Harbor Freight' 66687 and other generic 'JUMBO' universal remote controls here.
If you own a newer 'Harbor Freight' Item 61959, a QFX REM-115 or any other Jumbo remote that has a 'Mute' button instead of 'Code Search', consult the Philips 4-digit TV code list.
